Wellness shots, to me, had always seemed like an upmarket, get-healthy-quick-scheme that required a lot of money and an accompanying designer diet to match. On the contrary, wellness shots are actually a cost effective way to boost your immune system and get closer to becoming a better, healthier you.
A major issue when it comes to wellness definitely has to do with misinformation and when it comes to wellness shots, a common misconception is that a single wellness shot will excuse bad eating habits. However, these all natural drinks simply supply your body with a quick burst of important nutrients. It’s essential to note that full benefits of these wellness shots are best reaped when consumed whist maintaining a healthy diet. Wellness shots do not, and cannot cover up the effects of a poor diet. One healthy meal won’t transform your body just as one unhealthy meal doesn’t make you fat. Consistency is key. Here’s a quick an easy immune boosting shot you can try today. The ingredients are: Apple Cider Vinegar - rich in antioxidants Ginger - which helps with digestion, it’s anti-inflammatory and also has antioxidants Turmeric - rich in curcumin, an antioxidant that fights inflammation by lowering the enzymes that cause it. Optional, Black pepper - boosts the body’s absorption of turmeric. Mixed a table spoon of ACV, one small ginger root and about a teaspoon of turmeric. To reduce spiciness I recommend adding a little bit of water and then you’re ready to start sipping. There has always been a list of recurring products you find almost anywhere and everywhere when you do research on dieting and weight loss. Too many people trying to get fit quick or get skinny quick without actually putting in the work. If you're not careful, you can easily fall down this rabbit hole and find yourself sipping on harmful teas and concoctions all in the name of health and wellness. Fortunately, there are blogs like this one to help save you from falling into such a mess and today we'll be discussing apple cider vinegar.
This popular product in the natural health community is known to have a long list of uses and benefits. For centuries, the vinegar has been used in health remedies, for weight loss, dealing with cholesterol and even in hair care and skin care. It contains antioxidants, amino acids and a small amount of potassium, all in just 3 calories per tablespoon. It's also scientifically proven to lower blood sugar levels therefore combating diabetes. Daily consumption of apple cider vinegar helps burn belly fat which supports weight loss, it has protective effects against cancer and also helps improve cardiovascular health. How to Use: consume 1 or 2 teaspoons per dosage or 1 or 2 table spoons per day, diluted with water or used in cooking. It's best to use organic and unfiltered Apple cider vinegar. It's also important that you know about side effects from misuse of this product so as to avoid any mishaps. Most of the side effects have to do with the acidity of the vinegar and these include: potential tooth decay, throat burns, delayed digestion and worsened symptoms in people with digestive problems, such as stomach ulcers. If you experience any issues or allergic reactions after consuming Apple cider vinegar be sure to seek medical attention immediately. -Nicole K I know I’m not a dietitian or nutritionist but I believe people should be able to eat for pleasure, whenever they want, without necessarily having to restrict themselves to having to wait for their scheduled ‘cheat days’. However; I say this with caution.
Cravings are a very difficult challenge that we all have to deal with and how we handle them is very important. Cravings put simply are: an intense desire for certain food or flavours. Cravings are a major challenge that we all have to deal with however, how we choose to handle them helps determine our progress during a wellness journey. Here are some tips on how to eat right, fight cravings but still treat yourself. According to healthline.com, to fight cravings, you can: 1. Distance yourself from the craving It’s a lot easier to resist temptation when it’s not staring you right in the face. Avoid having easy accessibility to whatever it is that you’re craving. 2. Avoid getting extremely hungry The hungrier you are, the easier it is to say farewell to your self-control and over indulge. 3. Plan your meals Structured meals help ensure that there’s little room for diversion. This works best for people who don’t necessarily believe in my ‘treat yourself’ philosophy. 4. Drink water Often thirst is confused for food craving or hunger. Keep a bottle pf water with you always and you’ll be able to fight cravings, stay hydrated and have glowing skin too^^ Some foods that are known to help curb cravings include nuts, dark chocolate, berries. Be sure to check if these are acceptable for consumption if you’re eating according to a specific diet plan such as the Keto diet. Most important takeaway from this is to let not let your cravings control you. Make sure that you eat according to your goals. Don’t allow cravings to have you your way away from your goals. -Nicole K Let’s talk Ginger... Whenever I fall ill I find myself looking for homeopathic remedies for whatever ailments I’m dealing with. Ginger is one of many useful ingredients for such remedies and here's why...
Ginger relieves nausea, gives digestion support, heals ulcers, boosts immunity, improves diabetes, it’s anti-fungal, reduces pain, fights cancer, aids weight-loss and works as a great anti-inflammatory. I personally find myself turning to ginger most often for the anti-inflammatory and nausea relief aids. Always incorporate the use of natural remedies to help improve your health. It’ll benefit you in more ways than you know! How to...? •Peel and dice your ginger •Consume raw •Alternatively: Boil the diced ginger in water, consume the water Ginger is also a great cooking ingredient and is incorporated in multiple recipes. This therefore adds to the nutritional value of ones meals as well as gives an extra hint of flavor. Be sure to give ginger a chance and incorporate it more into your lifestyle. You'll thank me later. |
